Upward Bound

Overview

Upward Bound is a federal TRIO program funded by the US Department of Education. For over 50 years, Upward Bound has helped to generate skills and motivation necessary for success in education beyond high school among low-income and potential first-generation college students. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the academic performance and motivation levels of eligible enrollees so they may complete high school and successfully pursue a college education.

Since 2012, the LSU Upward Bound program has prepared hundreds of East Baton Rouge Parish high school students for college each year. Our staff, along with strong institutional and community support, has helped local students achieve their educational and career goals. We empower to Upward Bound participants through the provision of cultural, educational, social and career development experiences.
