Music & Dramatic Arts Building
Located along scenic Dalrymple Drive, the Music & Dramatic Arts building recently underwent a 4.5 year, $22 million renovation that included not only restoration of classrooms and practice space, but performance venues such as the historic Claude L. Shaver Theatre and creation of a new black-box Studio Theatre. These improvements have allowed the CMDA to keep pace and even surpass other regional institutions in terms of facilities, programs offered, and involvement in the community.
The Claude L. Shaver Theatre is housed within the Music & Dramatic Arts Building. This facility hosts many LSU School of Theatre and Turner-Fischer Center for Opera performances, and seats up to 350 patrons.
School of Music Recital Hall
The Recital Hall is located within the School of Music Building, located at the corner of Dalrymple Drive and Infirmary Road. Events at the Recital Hall, which seats approximately 250 guests, are sometimes free and open to the public.
The LSU Student Union Theater is a 1,269 seat proscenium arch theater complete with an orchestra pit. Seating is stadium style with no overhanging balcony, providing great sight lines and sound. The LSU Union Theater is equipped with the Meyers Constellation System, which provides acoustical enhancement for voice and music performances, delivering concert hall quality sound regardless of where you’re seated in the theater.
Reilly Theatre (Swine Palace)
Home to Swine Palace Productions, the Reilly Theatre opened in spring 2000 and is LSU’s newest performance facility. With its state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, this theater is truly a one-of-a-kind.
Tiger Band Hall
The Tiger Band Hall complex is located north of the School of Music and CMDA buildings, along Aster Street. This state-of-the-art, 17,740-square-foot facility is used for rehearsals by the Tiger Marching Band and the Department of Bands. Recitals, concerts, workshops and other special events are occasionally held here.
Located within the Music and Dramatic Arts Building, the Studio Theatre is a flexible black box space designed to be used in a variety of ways. Currently, it is the primary venue for the LSU School of Theatre Lab Season productions.
